Oh man, where do I even begin with these sweet little newborn photos! I had the best afternoon spending some time with them as the most warm and gorgeous afternoon light drenched their nursery. I seriously can’t get over how beautiful his mama is. Or how gorgeous that nursery was. The black iron crib was darling and all the beautiful details and touches they put in place. During this session, I took some time with these newborn photos to think outside of the box. Or maybe just think outside of my usual box, and I loved the results! Sometimes I have to remind myself to try new things as a Walnut Creek newborn photographer, because the results are always amazing!

We spent most of this session in the nursery, since that’s where the best lighting was. But I loved using different angles to get some different images even though we were in the same room. I especially liked the photo outside of the door frame. It’s as though you’re peeking in (in a very non creepy way) on a sweet mama and her little baby boy. But my favorite images of all from this session were actually not in the best lit room of their home, believe it or not. Toward the end of the session I wanted to take some photos of them in their bedroom. It was pretty dark though since a tree was covering their window. But I loved the position of their bed to the window, so I thought I would just go for it. And let me tell you the results were stunning! And it definitely reminded me that even film is flexible if you’re in a dimly lit room. I really loved how the blinds caused the light to be in streaks across their faces too. I’ve learned to play with light and that some of my favorite images aren’t all evenly lit. They have more variety, and dare I say, imperfection to them.
