These maternity photos were so fun for me in so many ways! I first met Allison and her husband when she hired me to take some family portraits for her family last fall. At the time she was expecting so we took some fun baby announcement photos! She then decided to book a petite maternity session with me as well as a newborn session for when their baby boy arrives! This session was such a dream as far as location goes for me as a Bay Area maternity photographer.
When we were chatting about locations for their session, Allison told me that she wanted photos by the water and I had just the place in mind. I’ve been wanting to do a session at our local lake for a while now, and she agreed that it would be the perfect place. Leading up to their session I was a little nervous that we would have to find another location, since for the longest time the lake was dry. Bone dry, like you could walk across it because there was hardly any water in it, dry. But a week before their session I stopped by and was so excited when I was driving down to the lake from the hills above and saw the glistening blue waters! THe lake was filled to the brim!
This turned out to be the perfect spot for their photos, the oak tree that hangs over the water was a perfect touch. I had some leftover chamomile flowers from my motherhood session a week before, so I brought those along for a nice touch to the photos. After her maternity session here I am itching to do more lakeside sessions. I am envisioning families playing lakeside while the sun goes down..
