Dreamy, just dreamy. If I had to sum up this family photography session in just two words, or only one sentence, that would be it. But really, it was so dreamy! I have long dreamed up a session at this location. I’ve walked by it countless times, and always pondered how beautifully it would photograph. With the rolling hills in the background, the desert-like shrubs, and the sun slowly slipping down the horizon. So when I wrote my summer bucket list, I knew that a session here had to be on it! I knew that I wanted a chance to try out this spot so that I could hopefully offer it as a location option to clients. And my hopes were fulfilled and then some. Honestly, this spot is even more beautiful than I had imagined. And it is my favorite type of location as a Walnut Creek Family Photographer.

I really loved the simplicity of this location, because it allowed for this sweet family to shine! Mama got her dress from Shop Morning Lavender, and it was the perfect dress for the location! Even though there was no shade at all, and the lighting was a little harsh, I love these images! You can see the bond that this sweet family has, and their playful spirits. This session was such a good opportunity to step out of my norm. From different lighting, to a different location. And I also choose to implement some different poses into the session. I love all the motion that we captured, the movement really helps to tell a story, I believe.

I feel like for photographers sometimes it can feel hard to step out of our comfort zone. To try something new or different. Partly because we are so used to our rhythm, but also because sometimes we wonder what our clients will think. We are sometimes worried that we won’t meet their expectations. Or at least I am. But I believe trying new things fuels our creativity and fulfills that desire to create art. So here’s my encouragement to try something new and challenge yourself!
