Where to even start with the gorgeous family session from last Fall! I loved getting to know this sweet mama, her three kiddos, and husband when I took their family photos. We met up at a gorgeous location here in the East Bay. Since we had gotten a little bit of rain early on in the fall the grass was Green!! Which I thought was so beautiful, I love a good lush green field for family photos. The green also perfectly complemented their outfit colors, not to mention how gorgeous mama’s jewel toned blue dress was. Usually I gravitate towards light colors for myself, but seeing that dress made me want something deep and gorgeous like it! I digress though, it was such a joy to be this family’s San Mateo family photographer!
When I look at this session, I see so much love. Love of a mama and her little ones. Love of a sweet family that has a beautiful bond and plays together. I adore just letting families be, and seeing what unfolds. I think I’m going to try to do more unstructured time in sessions, where I say “just hang out”, and capture what happens. Because I’m finding that when I do that the most beautiful moments unfold. I get to capture them playing and running. Them snuggling and just being themselves. And I know those are the types of photos that I, myself, want of me and my family. And I think that clients want those types of photos too.
There’s something about beautiful candid images that just draw you in. They’re photos that make you feel something, and you can see yourself in. Over the past few years I’ve shifted my goal with sessions to capture more authentic moments and this was such a perfect session for that to happen. So scroll on below to see this sweet family of 5!
