This newborn photographer has a little story to tell you.. Last fall I got the amazing opportunity to be able to head down and attend a photographer workshop! The workshop was originally scheduled to happen last spring in Texas. I had planned to fly down and attend the workshop and then have my husband join me. We were going to take a little babymoon while there! Including a little trip to Waco to visit Magnolia Farms, oh how i’ve wanted to go there so badly. (SO funny to think that back then I was pregnant with G too!) Well obviously, things got rearranged and cancelled because of this dang pandemic. Then things got cancelled again. And then the host decided to hold the workshop in California in the fall. You bet I made sure I was able to make it! I mean, what Bay Area newborn photographer wouldn’t’ want to attend something so near and amazing!
So I drove down with my then 3 month old and husband and attended Daphne Mae Photography’s one day motherhood photography workshop. It was so beautiful and wonderful to connect with so many other like minded women and learn from Alex! I’ll always remember sitting outside snacking on muffins and learning. Learning about success and goals and the heart behind running a business and caring for a family. It was a pivotal moment in my career and life, and i’ll forever be thankful for it.
I remember walking away from the workshop not only with lots of new tools for photography, but just for motherhood and business in general. So often workshops focus so much on the business side of things, and it was so refreshing to get a different perspective. I really feel like Alex’s heart aligns with mine a lot too with family coming first always!
Not only was the education amazing, but we got to photograph the most beautiful mama and her baby boy. We shot in Alex’s garden studio that she built and it had all my studio session dreams coming true! Shooting in her natural light studio made me realize how much I would love to have a space like that of my own someday. So i’ll be dreaming and scheming until it comes true, because man i’m begging for more sessions like that one.
P.S. This is only part 1 of a three part series of images from this shoot. There were too many good ones to just choose a few! So stay tuned for more goodness!
