On a foggy weekday morning I made the trek out to San Francisco to photograph Baby Z in her picture perfect nursery when she was just an itty bitty newborn! I’ve been shooting more newborns lately and i’ve really been loving the results! To be completely honest I always said I would never be a newborn photographer- it truly was never my desire since the past 10 years since i’ve been so focused on being a wedding photographer.
Let me branch off now to tell you a little story- back when I was in college and starting out as a wedding photographer I would arrive to second shoot at weddings and I would leave with the biggest smile on my face and this feeling that I was right where I always wanted to be. I had always dreamed about being a wedding photographer so to be given that opportunity at 18 years old was amazing! Fast forward to this session, I remember standing in her nursery while they were getting ready and feeling that exact same feeling- the feeling of “i’m living my dream” and “this is exactly what I want to be doing”.
Now back to Baby Z- she was oh so snuggly and not so sleepy (until the last set of photos, but that’s always how it pans out, right?) but her photos came back oh so beautifully! I love in-home newborn sessions because they’re laid-back and slow, there’s time to nurse, swaddle, and sip coffee. They capture mama, daddy, and baby in their natural setting and it’s so precious and sweet.
It really is such an honor to be chosen to take newborn photos for a family, they let you into such a sweet milestone and you get to experience it alongside them for a small snippet of time! Not only do they let you into their lives for a bit but you get to capture them in their element, with their bundle of joy that they’ve long awaited and anticipated! I really loved being their San Francisco Newborn Photographer, and even though it was foggy and cold outside, their home was so beautiful and it all worked out perfectly!
